Geoprobe Operator

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Reports to:    Program Manager

The primary responsibility of this position will be to operate HRL’s Geoprobe® 7822DT direct push drilling rig to provide support to subsurface drilling operations primarily related to soil sampling, high resolution imaging, injection, groundwater sampling, monitor well installation and geotechnical analysis. HRL is looking for the strongest, most experienced operator to accomplish these tasks. We work for a variety of clients in both the private and federal sector which demand the upmost in experience and quality of work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Operate the direct push rig in an efficient and professional manner.
• Organize and assemble necessary tools, equipment, and materials for each project.
• Complete daily truck and rig inspections.
• Complete maintenance and or repair of tooling and support equipment.
• Must be able to complete repairs on the rig when required.
• Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed.
• Support and adhere to company policies and procedures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Must have excellent knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in direct push drilling operations.
• Must be willing to travel in and out of state.
• Must be able to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Must be able to work in adverse field conditions.
• Must be able to work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
• Must have the ability to remain calm during sometimes stressful or intense situations.
• Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing to both the client and drilling program manager.
• Must have the ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or GED. Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience is desired for this position; but would train the right individual if the individual shows a strong drilling aptitude.
• A Class A CDL is desired but will work with candidate to acquire one.

ENVIRONMENT:

• Regularly works in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat, cold and potential exposure to contaminated soils/groundwater.
• Excellent stamina is required.
• Willingness to regularly work 10-12-hour days due to project requirements.
• Overnight travel of 2-3 days is often required and travel up to 10 days at a time is occasionally required. Lodging and per diem are paid for by the company.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be able to pass pre-employment, random, post-accident drug/alcohol screens as applicable.
• Must be able to pass criminal background screen as applicable.
• Must have a clean driving record.
