Position Summary
The Accounting Manager/Controller is responsible for establishing and maintaining the company’s
financial health by developing, implementing, and overseeing systems for collecting, analyzing, verifying,
and reporting financial information. This role manages day-to-day accounting operations at a detailed
level, supervises accounting staff, ensures compliance with applicable federal and Colorado laws, and
supports organizational and operational goals through accurate financial reporting and strategic insight.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, forecasting/budgeting, and general
ledger functions in compliance with GAAP and applicable Colorado and federal regulations.
• Prepare and manage the annual budget; produce monthly and annual financial statements;
develop job-costing reports; schedule expenditures; analyze variances; and initiate corrective
actions as needed.
• Contribute financial analysis and recommendations to strategic and operational planning,
including productivity, quality, and customer service objectives.
• Establish and maintain accounting controls, including development and maintenance of the
chart of accounts and accounting policies and procedures.
• Ensure financial integrity and security through effective internal controls and risk-management
practices.
• Guide and support other departments by researching, interpreting, and applying accounting
policies and financial data to operational issues.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including
Colorado wage-and-hour laws, payroll regulations, sales and use tax requirements, and
reporting obligations.
• Coordinate and support internal and external audits; identify trends; recommend and
implement system and process improvements.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial and employee information in accordance with
legal and ethical standards.
• Stay current on accounting standards, regulatory changes, and best practices through continuing
education and professional development.
• Work closely with external Human Resources contractors to monitor and maintain employee
benefits.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to support the organization’s mission and objectives.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop or similar enterprise
accounting software.
• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Strong working knowledge of sales and use tax requirements in Colorado and surrounding
states.
• Payroll processing experience; multi-state payroll preferred.
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel with knowledge in Microsoft Word preferred.
• Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple
priorities.
• Income tax knowledge is beneficial.
• High level of integrity, reliability, and professionalism.
• Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and exercise sound judgment.
Work Environment and Schedule
• This is a full-time, salaried position with regular business hours. Limited flexibility in scheduling
or remote work may be available based on business needs and candidate qualifications.
• Work is primarily performed in an office environment with standard office equipment.
• The office culture is casual, collaborative, and family-friendly.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting
required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a mid- to upper-level accounting or controller role.
• CPA license preferred but not required.
Compensation and Benefits (Colorado Pay Transparency Compliance)
• $90,000 to $130,000 annually, depending on experience and responsibilities.
• Actual pay offered will be based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity, in compliance
with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.
